About us
Group leader
Guillaume Jacquemet is Professor in Bioimaging at Åbo Akademi University and leads the Cell Migration Lab at Turku Bioscience Centre. His research focuses on cell migration, cancer-cell interactions with the vasculature, filopodia and quantitative microscopy. He trained with Martin Humphries at the University of Manchester and Johanna Ivaska at the University of Turku.
He holds a K. Albin Johansson Research Professorship of the Finnish Cancer Institute and is an Associate Editor at Journal of Cell Science for bioimaging and image-analysis papers. He is also one of the heads of AIC-Turku and heads the Doctoral Programme in Biosciences and Drug Research at Åbo Akademi University.
Our environment
The Cell Migration Lab is based in Turku, Finland, at Åbo Akademi University and Turku Bioscience Centre.
The lab started in 2019. We are part of the Research Council of Finland Centre of Excellence in Immune–Endothelial Interfaces (IMMENs), the InFLAMES Flagship and the Solutions for Health research profile at Åbo Akademi University.
Our work uses microscopy, cell biology and quantitative image analysis. Through Turku Bioscience Centre, we also have access to facilities for bioimaging, genomics, proteomics, zebrafish research, genome editing and bioinformatics.
We work in the BioCity Turku campus, where the Advanced Imaging Core (AIC-Turku) is in our building. Our neighbours include the headquarters of Euro-BioImaging and the Turku BioImaging community, which makes Turku a European hub for biological and biomedical imaging.
